Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the redesigned FFA New Horizons magazine. As you flip through these pages, it’s my hope that you see yourselves — and your passions — in the stories we share. You’ll find many topics you’ve grown to expect, alongside fresh concepts we hope resonate with you.
The magazine now also incorporates New Visions, the former magazine for FFA Alumni members. It is our belief that combining the two groups will not only inspire young people to become alumni members but also assure alumni that there is a bright future with today’s FFA students. That is precisely what FFA New Horizons will do. Throughout this magazine, we share with you the impactful and encouraging stories of FFA students, as well as the wise perspectives and inspiring involvement of FFA Alumni.
For instance, in “Face the Nation” we present the impressive 2016-17 National FFA Officers and provide an update on the legacy that the 2015-16 National FFA Officers leave.
“Take Off!” details the work Indiana’s South Newton FFA and North Newton FFA chapters put into winning a grant to incorporate drone technology into a precision agriculture curriculum. The courses educate students on some of the most advanced ag practices. An alumni member weighs in on the value of this education — and the technology itself — on the farm.
Thank you for your FFA membership and all you do to feed and fuel the world. You’ll hear from our new editor, Justin Davey, in future editions. Enjoy the new FFA New Horizons.
