When Maddie Grace Roe launched her graphic design business in January 2021, she was simply tinkering with her dad’s hand-me- down equipment. “It was just me in my bedroom making things for my friends,” says Roe, a Clear Lake FFA senior from Texas.
Now with the help of her dad, Allen, a former graphic design business owner himself, and a public Facebook page, Maddie Grace Designs serves five to 15 clients each week, creating farm logos, vinyl decals for livestock trailers, show banners and more. “I can design anything you can imagine,” says Roe, who has carved a rare niche in the agriculture space.
One of her favorite offerings, though, is that 3% of the cost of each order gets donated to the National FFA Foundation. Roe began giving in April 2021, with a goal of donating $750 for the year. “I wanted to give back to the program that really started my career,” says Roe, who plans to attend college in the fall with the hope of becoming a large-animal vet.
“FFA means the most to me,” she adds. “I love all the friends I’ve made and how much of a family we are. I love showing hogs and the competition aspect. It has really grown me as a person, and it’s going to be my forever home.”
That impact has also worn off on her dad, who sponsors FFA students who want to show livestock. “I have never seen a bigger smile on the children [who] are part of FFA, and that swells my heart,” he says.
