As you enter the second half of the school year and look ahead to summer, consider how you can spend free time investing in your personal and professional development. Think about applying to attend a state or National FFA conference this summer to take your leadership skills to a whole new level.
In 2024, Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) celebrates its 55th year of providing a premier leadership experience to FFA members, surrounded by the rich history of our nation’s capital. Additional National FFA opportunities include the FFA Member Leadership Series, New Century Farmer, Next Gen Conferences and the State Officer Leadership Continuum.
BASF Corp. is an FFA corporate partner for the State Officer Leadership Continuum conference series. “We’re proud to be heavily invested in helping FFA members develop their potential by supporting initiatives behind the organization, both from a personal and professional standpoint,” says Indiana FFA alumna Karissa Jones, a strategic account manager for the pest control, turf and ornamental division with BASF in Texas.
She encourages young people to attend leadership conferences because such experiences inspire members to become change-makers in their communities and provide valuable networking opportunities.
“Leadership camps and conferences are about developing oneself,” she says. “You also get exposed to the opportunities out there, and that exposure is important when trying to figure out your career path.”
