Whether you plan to attend the 94th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis in person or tune in virtually, it’s important to ensure you’re prepared for this highly anticipated annual event.
Here are five things to do before the fun begins:
- Know Before You Go
If your chapter is going to Indianapolis, your advisor will receive a “Know Before You Go” email filled with information. Be sure to touch base with your advisor as you’re getting ready for your trip.
“‘The Know Before You Go’ email will include important information related to COVID-19 restrictions and requirements and other reminders you won’t want to miss,” says Mandy Hazlett, associate director of convention and events at the National FFA Organization.
- Confirm Your Registration
Meet with your advisor and review your registration confirmation to make sure you have everything you need to attend the events you’ve signed up for.
“If you have tickets to attend the concert or rodeo, you must also have your convention badge along with your mobile ticket to enter these events,” Hazlett says.
- Dress for the Forecast
Take a look at the Indianapolis weather forecast for the dates you’ll be in town and pack accordingly.
“There have been years we’ve had 80°F. weather on the front end of convention, followed by cold weather and snow to close out the event,” Hazlett says. “Because the weather is so unpredictable this time of year, you’d be smart to check the forecast and bring the proper attire.”
- Tune In With Tech
Download the FFA National Convention app and build out your schedule so you know when general sessions and workshops begin and where to go (or where to watch).
“We aren’t printing a guidebook this year, so it’s especially important for in-person attendees to download the app, but we also recommend virtual attendees download it because it includes the entire convention schedule,” Hazlett says. “Plus, you can sign up for push notifications that will give you up-to-date information on everything taking place during convention.”
- Check In on Social Media
Follow the National FFA Organization on Instagram and Facebook to stay in the know.
“When posting convention-related photos and updates, use the hashtag #FFA21,” Hazlett says. “No matter where you are, social media can be a great way to stay connected and to get real-time information about what your peers are experiencing.”
