Planning to go to college after high school? Don’t miss your chance to allow FFA to help fund your education. The FFA scholarship application closes Jan. 23, so don’t wait.
1. No matter what career path you choose, FFA has a scholarship designed to help you achieve your goals. In fact, the National FFA Scholarship Program provides more than 120 different scholarships to support students pursuing postsecondary education. Recipients use the money to study in a wide variety of fields, with the top five being agribusiness systems; animal systems; power, structural and technical systems; plant systems; and biotechnology systems.
2. Applying for an FFA scholarship is easy! You only have to fill out one form, and you’ll automatically be considered for multiple scholarship opportunities. The selection process considers your FFA involvement, work experience, supervised agricultural experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics.
3. There is more than $2.7 million in scholarship money available. That’s a lot of cash for college you can potentially tap into. In 2018, the FFA Scholarship Program awarded $2,585,396 in scholarship money to 1,842 individual recipients. The money comes from many sources, including corporate, nonprofit and individual donations and endowments. AGCO, Ford, John Deere and RAM Trucks are just a few of the many supporters of the FFA Scholarship Program.
4. More FFA scholarships are awarded every year, so your chances of receiving one are better than ever. Back in 1984, only 16 FFA scholarships were awarded, compared to a whopping 1,842 scholarships awarded in 2018.
5. It doesn’t matter where you’re from. More than 8,800 high school seniors and college students applied for FFA scholarships in 2018, and they hailed from 44 different states. Together, they represented 468 different colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools. The top five schools represented were Texas A&M University, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Oklahoma State University and Purdue University.
6. You don’t need a perfect 4.0 grade point average to apply. Last year, the average GPA of scholarship applicants was 3.78, and their average class rank was 23/261.
7. The FFA scholarship application moved to a cool new platform in 2019, making it even more functional and user-friendly. You can log into your password-protected account from any device with an Internet connection; edit and save your progress prior to completing your application; and upload required materials directly to your application.
