The Princeville FFA Chapter in Illinois does many charitable activities, but one that captures the community’s attention is giving back in a unique way by offering the comfort of homemade tie blankets.
For several years, the Princeville FFA Chapter has created blankets for the Ronald McDonald House. The chapter hopes to comfort children in need with the warm embrace of their handmade blankets. This donation to the Ronald McDonald House not only helps the children in need, but also strengthens and unifies Princeville FFA.
“We enjoyed it, and it helped unify us as a chapter,” said Montana “Tana” Hoerr, the 2023-24 Princeville FFA Chapter chaplain who helped lead the project.
When asked why her chapter chooses to give back, Hoerr said, “The community is the reason we can do the things we do. The trips we take and many of the contests we host or attend are possible because of the funds provided by the community.”
Furthermore, Hoerr says the community fuels her FFA chapter and all it stands for. This support is not just given to Princeville FFA, but to the organization and its mission as a whole.
This charitable act not only helped comfort sick children with these one-of-a-kind blankets, but it also helped Princeville FFA strengthen its bond with the community.
