National FFA Week is about more than just promoting FFA; chapters across the nation view it as a promotional and recruitment opportunity.
Located in central Kentucky, LaRue County FFA takes National FFA Week to the next level. Its commitment to getting members, alumni and the community involved creates a one-of-a-kind week.

LaRue County FFA planned a farmer appreciation breakfast on the Monday members were out of school for President’s Day. The breakfast was designed to provide a chance for farmers in the community to feel appreciated for their hard work. Throughout the rest of the week, the chapter also planned several dress-up days for both teachers and students across the school district.

On Tuesday of National FFA Week, the chapter planned an after-school activity to invite younger and nonmembers to see what FFA was all about. Time was also spent playing cornhole, four square and providing tours of the school’s agriculture program.

The chapter’s next big activity would come in the form of giving back to the community. Each month, LaRue County FFA gets members to volunteer at their local food distribution center and give food to families in need. This week was no exception; current, former and soon-to-be FFA members helped out. Some years, the chapter also volunteers at its local Feeding America location by packing senior boxes and school backpacks for those in need.

The end of the week for this chapter was the busiest by far. On Saturday, LaRue County FFA hosted a 5K run and walk. Each year, this event is held with the goal of having at least 80 participants. This day ended with several members competing in a local public speaking invitational hosted by Spencer County FFA.

This week was just the beginning, though; LaRue County FFA members continued their celebrations and appreciation long into the future.
