The officer team from Rock County FFA Chapter in Nebraska set up new playground equipment in an effort to improve the city park.
The seven-member officer team worked with various volunteers to accomplish this project. The city of Bassett purchased the playground equipment through a grant. Rock County FFA then volunteered to set up the equipment for the city park. Alongside the officer team, FFA alumni volunteered their skills and time to supervise the project.
Everyone met at the park to begin the process of setting up the equipment. On Nov. 10, 2024, the project began. To start set up, everyone had to measure exactly where each feature of the playground would be. The next step was to separate the different parts of each section, prepping for set up.
Throughout the day, they started setting up the playground. However, due to a lack of time, the project was not fully completed. They planned to continue working on it the following weekend to complete it fully.
With the remaining grant money, the city generously donated it to Rock County FFA. The organization decided it would be best to use the money for the community. As a result, they purchased a bench to be placed in the city park. The city park improved tremendously between the playground equipment and the new bench.
FFA members strive to give back to their communities in various ways. The Rock County FFA Officer Team showed a great example of this to its younger members. During the holiday season, the chapter gives back to its community as much as possible to show appreciation for everything they have helped with throughout the years.
