The Montevideo FFA Chapter holds a yearly event called “Santa Anonymous.” This project helps families in need during the holiday season. The chapter works with family services, choosing a set amount of money to spend on a family. It is usually assigned a family of four or five and is given a list of the family’s needs and wants for Christmas.

This year, the chapter decided to spend $300. Members shopped for seven categories including a mom, a dad, two sons, two daughters and the household. Each category included specific items, such as clothing, shoes, winter jackets and hats and toys for the children. The household category included practical items like soap, towels and toiletries.

Once the shopping was finished, members gathered to wrap gifts. Afterward, their advisor delivered the wrapped presents to the campaign, which ensured the family received them in time for Christmas.

“I’ve been doing this event in my 4-H club and thought my FFA chapter should do it as well,” said Destiny Rittel, a member who introduced the “Santa Anonymous” to her chapter. Her 4-H club has helped two families, and this was their third year doing the event.

This project has become a meaningful tradition for the Montevideo FFA Chapter. It not only helps families in need, but it also gives members the chance to work together and make a difference in their community. The chapter looks forward to continuing this tradition every year.
