In the mountains of north Georgia, Bagley Middle FFA hosts a yearly toy drive to help those in need.

Each year around Christmas, the chapter collects toys to be donated to the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family and Children Services. The chapter collects toys by asking around and encouraging students to donate through competitions between school classes.

However, the highlight of this event is the annual Christmas party where members donate toys, line dance and participate in various activities. Once all the toys are collected, the chapter officers deliver them.

Bagley Middle FFA Advisor Ruby McCracken hopes the event provides an opportunity for chapter members to experience fellowship and build relationships — all while teaching the value of helping others through generosity.

“Our chapter has always placed a strong focus on community service,” McCracken said. “I believe in teaching students the value of being a good citizen and contributing to their community.”

This Christmas marks the 10th anniversary of the toy drive, which has become a tradition for McCracken and her students.
