Megan Benson is a Senior Bend FFA member in Oregon. She started showing goats during her sophomore year. Before goats, she showed bunnies since she was 8.

“I love it because I can create such an amazing bond between me and my goats,” Benson says. “It’s a lot of hard work, and it can be time-consuming, but also very rewarding.”

Hard Work Pays Off

Benson showed her market goat this year at the Deschutes County Fair, where she was the FFA reserve champion market goat. “Watching from where they started to where they end up makes me feel like I’ve actually done something,” she says.

Benson not only enjoys showing and raising goats, but she also loves teaching people about them. Showing goats has also helped her gain more friends outside of school who enjoy the same things she does.
