They say everything in Texas is bigger. When it comes to Texas High School football, homecoming celebrations and mums, it is either go big or go home in the Lone Star State. Princeton High School is located just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, in Area V, and boasts of 277 students enrolled in ag science classes. Of those, the floral design students embraced a BIG project this fall and constructed a monster homecoming mum that adorned the foyer of their school to celebrate their homecoming celebration.

The Texas-shaped mum took 50 hours to construct. It was constructed of 2,525 coffee filters, 40 yards of traditional ribbon, and 100 yards of butcher paper to add to the hanging ribbons. Ag science teacher Shalley Boles said, “I was so pleased with how well our mum turned out, to only be our second year to complete such a project. The mum truly added to our school spirit and excitement of the week of homecoming!”
