Darby Yeager has a special love for flowers — especially dahlias.
As a junior at White Oak Jr./Sr. High School in Ohio, Yeager started her own business called “Darby’s Dahlias.” She quickly mastered the art of growing and caring for dahlias, and her goal was to brighten people’s days, just like a fresh bouquet always brightened hers.
“I always loved coming home from school after a bad day to fresh-smelling flowers with bright colors,” she says.
Yeager also mentioned how the vibrant colors could bring life to any dining room table. Her business began small and included sharing homegrown dahlias with her grandma and neighbors. Now, she sells them to many people in the community, spreading joy and making everyone’s day a little bit better.
As her business grew, Yeager also started selling merchandise to help spread the word about her favorite thing. She soon noticed that when the same people bought from her every week, it became expensive. So, she started a subscription service where customers could get fresh flowers delivered every week.
“I want everyone to enjoy the vibrant colors from the flowers, so I started the subscriptions so everyone can afford it,” Yeager says.
Yeager’s dedication and passion for flowers turned her small venture into a thriving business. Her efforts not only brought beauty and joy to her community but also inspired others to appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Darby’s Dahlias continues to flourish, making the world a little brighter, one bouquet at a time.
