Change Champions Birdhouse

In today’s world, it’s easy only to see the bad. So, it’s refreshing to see FFA chapters like the one in Hartselle, Ala., making a change for good in its community.

In May 2024, Hartselle FFA members wanted to do some good in their community. They decided on a project named “Change Champions” and immediately got to work.

They chose two separate parts for this project. First, they made tables for their local farmers market. Then, they placed more than 50 birdhouses at Sparkman Park, a cornerstone in their community.

It’s the smallest changes that make the largest differences in our Alabama communities. Although building tables or birdhouses may seem like a small task, it affected so many people in a positive light and provided a sense of community to their small town.

For context, Hartselle is a city in Morgan County. It was founded in the early 1800s and is known for its friendly community, beautiful parks and strong school system. The city offers a blend of small-town charm and modern amenities, making it a great place to live or visit. Hartselle also hosts various events and festivals throughout the year, which showcase its local culture and traditions.

This is a city that thrives on community spirit and helping others. It’s nice to see that, even in trying times, people will still work to find that sense of unity. This just happened to be a group of teenagers, making it all the more heartwarming.

Hartselle FFA members’ dedication and hard work serve as an inspiring example for others. This project shows that change can be a beautiful thing if used correctly. Their initiative not only beautified the local environment but also fostered a sense of pride and togetherness among the residents.

It’s heartening to witness young individuals taking the lead in making a positive difference. Their efforts are a testament to the strength of community spirit in Hartselle.
