AAEC-EM FFA officers perform opening ceremonies during their February chapter meeting.
Every year, FFA chapters from around the nation participate in National FFA Week, which celebrates FFA and its impact on its members, alumni, teachers and agriculturists.
During FFA Week, chapters can choose to celebrate in various ways. For the past two years, the AAEC-EM FFA Chapter in Arizona decided to get its entire school involved in fun activities. Its officers developed a spirit week to encourage member involvement and spread awareness about FFA Week. Each day had a different theme for members, students and staff to dress up for and have fun.

AAEC-EM FFA also hosted a schoolwide game of Roshambo for members, students and staff. Participants played games of rock, paper, scissors with each other to earn beaded necklaces and points. The winner was the individual with the most points by the end of FFA Week.
Chapter officers spent the morning of Feb. 19 cooking breakfast for the teachers and staff on their campus. They made waffles with bacon and eggs and hand-wrote thank-you cards to recognize recipients’ hard work in their school and chapter.
The officers held their monthly chapter meeting to close out the week and made it FFA-themed. During the middle of the meeting, a Jeopardy-style FFA trivia game was played. This activity tested members’ knowledge of career and leadership development events, fun facts about FFA, and information about their chapter officers and advisors.
Finally, Arizona FFA Association state officers sent out “Flat Stanleys” (printed cutouts) to FFA chapters across Arizona. A “Flat Stanley” of Victoria Gonzalez, AAEC-EM FFA Alumna and current Arizona FFA state vice president at large, was sent to the AAEC-EM FFA Chapter to participate in FFA Week activities, including the chapter meeting.
