INDIANAPOLIS – (Thursday, Oct. 24 2024/National FFA Organization) – Dixie FFA of Florida was named the 2024 National
Model of Excellence winner during the third general session of the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo this year in
Indianapolis. being held in Indianapolis.

Dixie FFA of Florida worked with local garden clubs to landscape city hall with Florida native plants and drip irrigation. A total of 23 FFA members participated in the landscaping project, volunteering a total of 137 hours. After Hurricane Idalia made landfall causing power outages and property damage, the chapter partnered with a local barbecue restaurant to cook and serve over 300 chicken dinners. The dinners were provided for free to community members in need.

The National Chapter Award program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters that actively implement the organization’s mission and strategies. These chapters improve operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

National FFA recognizes the top chapters with innovative activities in three divisions: growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters that receive three-star ratings during judging are eligible to compete for the premier chapter awards. Ten FFA chapters competed for the honor.
