Regardless of what your school year will look like in the COVID-19 era, these five FFA advisors and National Teacher Ambassadors for FFA share tips for starting on the right foot.

“First things first: Enjoy the last bit of summer so you are relaxed and ready for the challenge of a new year. On the first day of school, wear an outfit that you feel confident in, and start the first day with an organized backpack and planner.”

– Lily West, Texas FFA Association

“My best advice is to sign up or volunteer for as many things as possible — even if you’re not sure what it will entail. This way, you will gain new experiences and you might even find something you really enjoy!”

– Hannah Everetts, Ohio FFA Association

“Take some time at the beginning of the year to develop an FFA bucket list, and then tell your advisors what your interests are. They can plug you into something that you will excel at. And, of course, do an FFA Official Dress check early!”

– Paryce Black, Virginia FFA Association

If you are an upperclassman, make sure you go out of your way to invite new members and students to functions. Attend chapter meetings. Volunteer during community service events. Take part in raising funds. Overall, be sure to stay involved.

– Brittany Davis, Tennessee FFA Association

“Give your teachers and classmates some grace as we transition to the new normal. We are all working together to figure out what will work the best. Events and activities may look different now, so here is your chance to start new traditions and make a positive impact on your chapter through new and innovative ideas.”

– Jason Ferreira, California FFA Association
