Last week, Deborah Stevens, an agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor at Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center in Newport, N.H., thought she was invited on the Strahan, Sara & Keke show to speak about her horticulture program. Little did she know they were honoring her for her amazing work as a teacher making a difference in her community.
“I am truly blessed to be here and do what I do every single day. I love my job,” said Stevens. “I am one of over 11,000 ag teachers in the United States – including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands – what we do every day is not just about growing things, but growing students.”
Stevens also received two checks for $5,000 each from Barbara’s Wholesome Cereals, to be used by a local food pantry and to make repairs to the school greenhouse.
The story is great national media recognition for what all ag teachers do every day and an amazing way to celebrate the National Association of Agricultural Educators Convention this week in California.
