Life after FFA can have endless possibilities: Whether you trade the blue jacket for overalls or for a suit and tie, the organization propels any career. Twins and agricultural business and economics majors, Albert and Ashley Koenig agree.
The two are pursuing careers in both international and domestic agriculture. Albert wants to work toward restoring and increasing sustainability of the beef cattle industry in Kazakhstan. Ashley plans to join the banking industry as a credit analyst or a loan officer.
Albert and Ashley grew up in Belgrade, Mont., where they discovered their love of agriculture and together began their journey with FFA. Albert served as state president and Ashley served as state secretary on the 2016-17 Montana FFA Officer Team. Both of them credit FFA and agricultural education for their successes and their future.
In addition to technical skills, FFA taught Ashley invaluable lessons on selflessness. “Any moment that you spend investing in someone else, you basically see the returns and double, whether it’s your personal fulfillment or just the sheer ability to help other people and see them grow and develop,” she says.
Add to that the network and resources she’s found with FFA, and Ashley says she’s well positioned for the future. “It just adds so much value to you as a person in the job market,” she says. “Both [Albert and I] have the people and the power to use the tools that we’ve been given.”
