On Dec. 6, 2024, the Maine FFA Association held its annual all-members workshop at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. This workshop had two sessions covering parliamentary procedure and the FFA Creed. The Maine FFA Alumni Association hosted the parliamentary procedure session, and the Maine FFA state officer team hosted the session about the FFA Creed and FFA Official Dress.
The opening session of the all-members workshop took place once all the FFA chapters arrived, followed by the second workshop. The FFA members in attendance were split into two groups and took turns participating in both workshops.
Session 1
The state officers began their session with a short icebreaker, and then members were split into five groups. The groups were given cards with words written on them, which, once they were put in the correct order, made up the FFA Creed. When every group finished this activity, the state officers asked members to read their part of the FFA Creed.
The second part of this session was about FFA Official Dress. The state officer team made a short video (included below) about the dos and don’ts of Official Dress.
Session 2
The second workshop was about using parliamentary procedure during FFA meetings. This included detailing the roles of each officer as well as how meetings properly begin, how to address new business and how to adjourn. The workshop also included mock examples of meetings to show proper procedure.
To round out the all-members workshop, everyone gathered as one big group to participate in karaoke and dancing. This meeting allowed FFA members to meet, converse and learn new things about FFA.
