Putting Passion Into Action With Meals on Wheels

During this year’s 97th National FFA Convention and Expo, members from across the country have been participating in the Meals on Wheels service event taking place in the Expo Hall. Participating members crafted potholders with colorful fabrics, weaving together patterns into unique creations.

“I think serving your community doesn’t have to be expensive,” says Jason Fillmore, a coordinator who’s volunteered with service projects at convention since they began. “It doesn’t have to be a really involved endeavor either. It can be something that’s simple, easy and doesn’t take a lot of time.”

While creating the potholders, members had the opportunity to learn more about the National FFA Organization’s Living to Serve Grants, which provide funding for students in chapters that have the desire to start service projects of their own.

Although the service project ended on Oct. 25, its impact will be felt for years to come.
