The Hankinson FFA Chapter, which was established just last year, recently hosted a thoughtful event for the farming community: a cornhole tournament benefiting Farm Rescue.

“The tournament went great,” says Hankinson FFA Advisor Cohl Ringler. “We had a good number of teams and raised just under $300.”

The tournament was held on Sept. 7 at Rub Me Tender in Hankinson, N.D. The chapter may not have raised an astronomical amount, but the funds will significantly aid farmers in need. Farm Rescue helps farmers and ranchers facing major illnesses, injuries or natural disasters by providing necessary equipment and resources.

“We chose this fundraiser to support a major source of security and safety for our farming community,” Ringler says.

Although the event began with only two teams signed up, interest grew and culminated in 12 teams participating. Winners received Farm Rescue and Hankinson FFA apparel, and the first-place team received $200.

“I think everyone had a lot of fun!” says Hankinson FFA Historian Shylin Mednwaldt.

While the turnout wasn’t as large as hoped, it marked a strong start for the chapter.

“Despite the initial low numbers, we had a great turnout for our first event,” says Hankinson FFA President Kenadi David.
