Andrew Jean, a senior at Hankinson Public School and student advisor for the Hankinson FFA Chapter, had quite a cool Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) this past summer. Jean cleaned a local park, a public beach and more for everyone to enjoy. This was his first year participating in an SAE.

“Families bonding and playing at the park or the beach made me happy to see, that knowing I had a little to do with that,” he says.

As Jean cleaned the park and beach throughout the summer, he did things like mowing, picking up garbage, cleaning the bathrooms and painting tables. He also made sure the baseball and softball fields were ready for the local Little League to use.

Cleaning and maintaining a park and beach may sound easy, but Jean had a point during the summer where this wasn’t the case. “Cleaning the bathrooms after the Fourth of July was gross, and there were garages everywhere we had to clean,” he says.

Overall, Jean worked very hard all summer to make the community clean and better for everyone to enjoy!
