Taylor Baraclough’s life changed for the best.
Originally from Schuylerville FFA in New York, she’s currently serving as a New York FFA state officer. Through the grueling process of interviewing, she impressed the members of the nominating committee and secured a spot. Part of this was because of how unique her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) is.
“There’s so many ways to get into an SAE,” Baraclough says. “A background in agriculture is not needed, grants are not needed, and you can reach out to local communities.”
Baraclough’s SAE is breeding Thoroughbred horses. This is a family-run business that she takes great pride in assisting with. Baraclough was also recognized on the national level for her SAE.
Although Baraclough thoroughly enjoys what she does, she said, “Horses take time, and the records take a long time.” While things may not happen at the snap of one’s fingers, the outcomes always come!
Baraclough has so much passion for not only her SAE and family business but also FFA and the almost 12,000 members she is serving in 2024-25. As a state officer, she hopes to help others learn more about SAEs.
Overall, Baraclough can’t wait to accomplish even more in this important time of her life.
