Q: The National FFA Convention & Expo is upon us once again. What’s one thing you think all convention attendees should do while they’re in Indianapolis or tuning in online?
Whether you’re experiencing convention in person in Indy or online at home, there are memories to be made. One thing I think every student should experience at national convention is the Agriscience Fair! I enjoy getting to see what members have discovered through their hard work and research — and I always learn something new.
— Cole Baerlocher, National FFA President
Every year at the National FFA Convention, I am sure to make time for the expo. I love to walk through the booths and interact with all the people there. I love seeing how each display exhibits some of the latest innovation and technology in American agriculture!
— Jackson Sylvester, National FFA Secretary
For members who can come to Indianapolis, I challenge you to try to take a picture with members from every state association showing off the backs of your jackets. It’s a fun challenge I’ve seen members try! For those tuning in online, I encourage you to gather people from our chapters and communities and have a giant convention watch party.
— Erik Robinson, Southern Region Vice President
Every convention attendee should try to connect with attendees from at least five other states. Convention is a time for all our state associations to come together and recognize the thread that weaves us together. We should take advantage of the unique opportunity to connect with our peers from across the country.
— Mallory White, Eastern Region Vice President
One of my favorite things to do at national convention is gathering your chapter together for a chapter dinner. My home chapter did this — we all go to a restaurant and sit at one long table. So many memories are made sitting at the table, including laughing with each other and recapping our day. It also is a good time to give your feet a break after a long day at the expo!
— Cortney Zimmerman, Central Region Vice President
Regardless of where you experience convention, embrace the people around you. Take a moment to thank a parent, advisor or supporter. Form a new connection with another FFA member. Make someone else’s life better. In my experience, the people around me have been what’s made convention so special!
— Josiah Cruikshank, Western Region Vice President
