Speakers from across the state of Indiana, including Lt. Governor Suzanne Grouch and Indianapolis mayor Joe Hogsett, joined a press conference on Tuesday, Oct. 22, to officially commence the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo, and highlight the impact the convention has on the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana. Additional remarks were made by National FFA President Amara Jackson and National FFA CEO Scott Stump.
“You know, I remember years ago sitting as a student here in Indianapolis at the convention center and taking in that experience, that sea of blue jackets. And so now to be speaking on behalf of those members, it blows my mind,” Jackson said. “I’m just constantly reminded of the honor that it is to be here.”
Stump said FFA holds this press event to share awareness of the organization’s presence in the city. “It’s an acknowledgment and a thanks to them, and a chance…to give them through the news media locally…a way of understanding and becoming a part of the experience that our students will have this week.”
