Last fall, Seth Reeves, the Latta FFA advisor and alumni member from Oklahoma, set out with his students to make a difference in their community through the Dude. Be Nice. campaign, which aims to inspire people to build a positive community by recognizing a person or group in a fun, creative and meaningful way.
During the weeklong campaign, students and staff spread messages of kindness and positivity around the school with more than 30 posters. The school held a surprise assembly on the last day of the project to recognize maintenance worker Randy Ellison for his dedication to the Latta school district.
Latta FFA Reporter Kalynn Williams notes that their efforts have created a kinder, more positive mood at school.
“There has been a lingering atmosphere of both gratitude for all who do their part to serve the Latta community and excitement for the years of Dude. Be Nice. projects to come,” she says.
“My hope is that when kids leave my building, they will remember that I taught them how to serve people.”
